Jana Vanaveski has served as Ambassador of Estonia to the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia, since August 2025, residing in Prague.

She has more than three decades of experience in Estonian diplomacy and has held a number of senior positions in foreign and economic policy. From 2023 to 2025 she served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia as Ambassador-at-Large for International Economic Organizations and Trade Negotiations. Prior to that, she was Chief of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2020 to 2023.

She has also gained extensive diplomatic experience abroad. From 2016 to 2020 she served as Ambassador of Estonia to Lithuania, and between 2013 and 2016 she was Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Estonia in Stockholm.

Earlier in her career, she headed the Foreign Policy Department at the Office of the President of the Republic of Estonia and worked within European Union and United Nations structures. Throughout her career, she has focused particularly on European trade policy, EU relations with the United States and Canada, and cooperation with international economic organizations.

Jana Vanaveski studied Economics at Tallinn Technical University and completed a postgraduate degree in International and European Relations at the Amsterdam School of International Relations. She is a native Estonian speaker, fluent in English and Russian, and has basic knowledge of Swedish and French.
