Jarmila Štuková is an award-winning Czech photographer, documentary filmmaker and creative producer of projects with a social impact. Since 2005, she has primarily focused on countries plagued by war, poverty and social problems. She has documented, among other things, child prostitution in Ethiopia, the earthquake in Haiti, acid attacks in India, the ironing of girls’ breasts in Cameroon, violence against women in Afghanistan and the war with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

In addition to topics related to the fury of war – she has photographed not only on the front lines, but especially in refugee camps, hospitals and destroyed cities – she is also interested in social issues that are often overlooked in the media.

Apart from photography, she also gives lectures and she is interested in production, which she studied at the DAMU in Prague. Under her leadership as a creative producer, several successful campaigns and projects were created highlighting the difficult lives of disabled people from several areas – whether it be Paralympians or burn patients.

She has won awards in the prestigious Czech Press Photo competition thirteen times and is also the holder of several foreign awards.
